It is VERY important that you follow established naming conventions so that Moodle will be able to properly sort & order them in lists for our online catalogue. We must all use the same naming conventions.
1) If this course shell is for a specific course, you will need to use one of the general course designations—EDTE, EDPB,EDPD, MEDL—immediately followed by the course number & a colon
E.G. “MEDL590:”
Do NOT use "MEDL 590:", "MEDL 590 :" or any other variation. This is critical because any variations such as adding spaces affects how Moodle will order /sort the courses & how they will display in the online catalogue for students.
2) You enter the title of your course followed by your first initial, last name, course semester & year
E.G. "EDTE611: Introduction to Educational Technology (J. Hengstler, Fall 2009)"
If you have a "special" circumstance such a course-project for student development & use, please contact the Education Technologist, Julia.Hengstler@viu.ca to establish a naming convention & category for these courses.
3) For the short name, use the course designation and number (same as in the full name) followed by an underscore, capital letter representing the semester (F=fall; S=Spring; I=Intercession; Su=Summer) and the last 2 digits year.
E.G. "EDTE611_F09"
